Cultivating Divine Friendship

TEXT : Deut 34:10, Acts 2:30, Gen 15:1

Have you ever wondered what was the wow factor or what brought about the level of depth in the relationship between God and Moses, David, Abraham and other men that God showed himself to? The Bible says no other prophet arose like Moses whom the lord knew face to face. The Bible tells us in Ex 33: 7 to 10 that when the children of Israel want to talk with God, they would go into the tent of meeting and indeed they would meet with God. But when Moses went into that same tent, it wasn’t business as usual because, the entire tent would be covered in a thick cloud of God`s Glory . Moses and God would then engage in a friend to friend and face to face conversation. Moses probably saw God more than any other human being alive possibly till date. The result is that Moses had one of the strongest Miraculous ministries recorded especially in Israel Deut 34: 10 to 12. Abraham also had several appearances of God and God made mind blowing eternal promises and covenants with Abraham Gen 22:16 to 18. David also had amazing experiences with God and God gave him unmatched eternal blessings. The most precious being that the savior would come from his descendants and his lineage will always produce kings Acts 2:30. Paul saw things that was not normally permitted for men to know or have access to. But God opened it up to Paul 2nd Cor 12: 1 to 4..What was it about these men and others we can’t mention because of space that provoked God to reveal himself in such magnitude to them ???? There are several factors responsible, but one of the common denominators of all of these people was that They all cultivated divine friendship with God…. How??? by spending and investing quality time with God. In the process of spending time with God, they became addicted to Gods presence, they also began to learn more and more of Gods ways and then learnt how best to please Him Isaiah 2: 2 to 3.

There is no way you will invest time with God and not be singled out from among your fellows. The more you spend time with God, the more his Glory rubs of on you 2nd Cor 3:18, and the more you will become like God in character and the more God”s favour will rub off on you, and the more God shows you more of himself. Moses cultivated friendship with God by spending time with God. He was up in the mountain for 80days. You can’t spend that amount of time with a person and not have the veil between you torn apart revealing a deep and great friendship.
The men who saw God, were men who placed high value on God and therefore spent time with him.
we see less and less of Gods hand in our lives and in our community because we have traded in the ancient but tested and trusted pathway of spending time with God, for every other activity. No wonder the nations don’t know there is a God in heaven any more, no wonder our words in evangelism are lifeless and powerless. No wonder the same fate that befalls unbelievers befall us. No wonder we are weak and fearful in the face of danger meanwhile God said He has given us the spirit of boldness. No wonder calamites hit us and we are caught unawares meanwhile God said He will shows us things before it happens Amos 3:7 and Jh 16:13. Didn’t God say those that wait upon Him will renew their strength Isaiah 40:31. But our strength is gone and our faith is weak because we have abandoned the safe place of his presence. He said those that abide (not visit) the secret place of the most high will abide under the shadow of the Almighty Ps 91:1

Let’s get back to his presence and see the amazing benefits that abound there. Elijah could tell the secret plans of the king of Syria 2nd Kgs 6: 8 to 20 because, he spent time with God. Paul was taken up to the third heavens because he spent a lot of time with God. For Paul said “ I speak in tongues more than you all” 1st Cor 14:18 , which means he had a long history of spending long periods with God ….

Pay the price and stay in His presence.

It’s been a while…

Good day angels,

How have you been?

Its been a looooong while now and I sincerely apologize for the silence. I for one have been very busy (I will need a P.A oh, please send your applications so that we don’t have this break in transmission again) and in the space of that time, God has been doing mighty things in our midst. We have two new (beautiful and handsome) babies, more weddings in the oven, better jobs, promotions, admissions… the list is endless.

God has been faithful.

For this reason, i’ll be sharing something a wise woman shared with me on the next post. As we have our own part to play…

A lot is coming up too, the vigil this Friday, our concert… a lot.

I wont spill it all out so that I have you hooked on to this space…Image
